Analysis : how to improve education in the country ?
After the Fifth International Research Seminar on Quality Education in Bogota, is on the table the issue of what can be done to improve performance on tests of Icfes , in cases where they have not been high.
The first evidence that the country is badly in educational quality was seen when the results of the Pisa tests of the International Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development to assess students who are 15 years expiring published the basic education.
In this test the results of Colombia have always been low , but in 2014 the country was last in the results , which for many meant a great shame .
When questioned on the subject, the director of the Institute for the Promotion of Higher Education, Icfes , Ximena Dueñas said he does not think that Colombia has gone bad. According to her, " we're getting into a league of countries that have educational projects , some ancient , we are comparing ourselves with the most elite of the elite of countries that are facing economic development where it goes ."
The director of Icfes states that " if we as Colombians want to be among the best , we have to make a diagnosis of how we and the result is what gives us a window of opportunity."
For her, " even though many say that Colombia is very bad , I do not think so , we have to do is work on a lot of things that we need and that's what he's telling us the test result Pisa " .
The Colombian education is very uneven
Adriana Mantilla Molina , head of the Research Office Icfes ensures that testing does school students are changed for years , to measure student progress step by step.
According to her , it is now important to evaluate " in the third year, when overcome elementary education ; fifth , to complete basic primary and nine, when junior high school, apart from the test is carried out for years in grade 11 and the end of each undergraduate " end .
